Fictitious characters that went to Ivy League schools

When it comes to the Ivy League schools, it’s always interesting to see who the real-life alumni are, however, isn’t it more exciting to hear about where your favorite fictional characters went to college?! Here are some fictional characters that attended Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, or Yale University.

Elle Woods, Legally Blonde – Harvard University

The sassiest sorority girl, Elle Woods decides to get back at her ex-boyfriend, by getting into Harvard Law School – what, like it’s hard?! Interestingly, in the book Elle goes to Stanford but both Stanford and USC denied permission for their name to be used in the movie – their loss!

Andy Bernard, The Office US – Cornell University

Andy barely opens his mouth without mentioning the fact that he went to Cornell University (and sang in the on-campus acapella group, Here Comes Treble!). He is certainly the most passionate about his school, and when Dwight decides to play on that, and wear the Cornell alumni sweater, Andy is furious!

Dr. Elliot Reid, Scrubs – Brown University

Before she became the clumsy but wonderful doctor that we all love, Elliot attended Brown and was part of the fictional sorority Omega Beta Gamma. She also played tambourine in a Christian rock band while at Brown, so we can be pretty sure that she wasn’t exactly a party animal in college!

Will Truman and Grace Adler, Will and Grace – Columbia University

Will and Grace met at Columbia where they dabbled in dating each other – which is laughable when you think about their relationship now! Will came out, and they have been the best of friends ever since, with Grace starting her own interior design firm, and Will becoming a lawyer.

Dennis Reynolds, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – University of Pennsylvania

Dennis’ attendance at UPenn is a plot point throughout the show. He attended Pennsylvania and minored in Psychology, along with being a Delta Omega Lambda. However, when he goes back to his old frat house, he is mocked, and it seems he isn’t the hero he had once thought.

Mindy Lahiri, The Mindy Project – Princeton University

The sassy Ob/Gyn doctor began her college life at Princeton University, before heading off to Columbia for medical school. We can just imagine the fun and drama Mindy got into in the dorms of Princeton – now that should be a TV series in itself!

Rory Gilmore, Gilmore Girls – Yale

Rory was accepted by a huge number of colleges, and we had all assumed that she would choose Harvard, as that’s where she was working towards her whole life. However, at the last minute, she chose Yale, as her grandfather’s alma mater.

Fictitious characters that went to Ivy League schools

It is interesting to see where these fictitious characters lives ended up, even after attending such prestigious schools – this proves that it’s what you do while you are there that matters more than where you go. But isn’t it much cooler to have someone awesome as your fellow alumni?!
