The hardest colleges to get into

If you’re the kind of person that constantly strives to be the best, there’s a high chance that you also want the best from your education. After all, you’ve spent your whole life aiming to be top of your class and to know more than others your age – so why shouldn’t you aim for the top? Although every college experience will (hopefully) leave you with a degree under your arm, there’s no doubt about the fact that some colleges are pickier than others. In fact, these are the hardest colleges to get into.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

You might know the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as MIT, but you might also know it as one of the most prestigious private research universities in the world. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this college has taught some of the greatest minds in the world. Yes, the likes of Buzz Aldrin, Ilene S. Gordon, Jonah Peretti have all studied within these hallowed halls. Want to join them? You’ll have to stand out because the acceptance rate is just 8%.

Princeton University

As an Ivy League college, Princeton’s name precedes itself. As the fourth-oldest college in the US, this beautiful college is shrouded in history, and this means that only the best of the best get in. With undergraduate and graduate programs to choose from, thousands of people apply every single year. Sadly, only 7% of them are accepted.

Yale University

If you want to obtain a degree in history, Yale University is the place for you. This beautiful campus can be found in New Haven, Connecticut, and has become one of the most famous colleges in the United States. Many young people dream of one day wearing a bulldog on their sweater, and 6% of applicants do get that chance. Will you be next?

California Institute of Technology

Known more commonly as Caltech, the California Institute of Technology is often regarded as one of the best research universities in the world. Many of their students take part in ground-breaking research surrounding science and technology, which is why so many people want to attend this college. Their acceptance rate? Just 8%.

Stanford University

Although Stanford University was founded way back in 1885, it’s since risen from the ground to become the winds of freedom. This private research university is next-door neighbors to Silicon Valley and has created some of the most brilliant minds ever to exist. Because of this, they have the ability to be a bit more selective with their students. They only accept 5% of applicants each year.

Harvard University

Everyone knows Harvard, right? There’s not a soul alive who doesn’t know just how prestigious this college is, which is why it should come as no surprise to learn that it’s not easy to get into. In fact, Harvard accepts just 5% of its applicants on a yearly basis – and there are a huge number of applicants to go through.
It’s never easy to get into college, but it’s even harder to get into these colleges. Can you beat the odds?
