Don't even think about graduating without these college experiences

College is arguably one of the most incredible experiences of your life. You get the chance to be independent, you get the chance to expand your horizons, and you get the chance to make friends for life and truly become your authentic self. Yes, we did just use the phrase “authentic self.” Of course, college is also about attending as many parties as you possibly can and eating your bodyweight in pizza… but we won’t talk about. If your college experience is coming to an end, however, it’s time to ask yourself one question: Can you tick all of these off your list?

Befriend five people you wouldn’t normally hang out with

When you go to college, it’s often easy to find friends for life. You normally have the same interests, you normally have the same humor, and sometimes you are even forced to live with each other! However, college is all about expanding your social circle – because you never know where they’ll end up. During your studies, make a conscious effort to befriend five people you wouldn’t normally hang out with. You can learn a lot about yourself and other people, while also having incredible connections when you leave. After all, alumni stick together!

Take a class that will provide you with a practical skill

Choosing your classes is an important rite of passage for any college student, and most people know immediately what they want to study. Yet, if you want to graduate with the best memories and the best experience under your belt, why don’t you take a class that will provide you with a practical skill? It might not be the most fun in the world, but it will look great on your resume and could potentially be the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful job interview.

Start something for you and your career

Although the idea of graduating is extremely exciting, you might want to remember that you’re not the only one making their way into the big, wide world with a degree in tow. When you apply for that dream job, you’re actually going against countless people who are all in the same boat as you. Because of this, you need to stand out from the crowd. The best way to do this is to start something for you and your career while at college. You could start your own blog or you could even start your own business. Do something for you and you might just be thanking yourself for it later.

Grab yourself some work experience

Do we need to say anymore? Work experience is the best way to make sure you’re making the right decision in terms of your career. You may have had a dream career when you were younger, but you don’t know that it’s right for you until you really get stuck in. Before you make that commitment, give it a go and see what the result is.
Can you even think about graduating without ticking these things off your college to-do list? We think not.
