This college student walked through the night to make sure he could get to work on time

College is no walk in the park, and sometimes it can seem as though it’s impossible to keep on top of everything as a student. You have to pay your tuition, you have to be able to afford rent, you need to be able to buy books, and that’s before you even think about feeding yourself. Because of this, many college students have to work all hours of the day and night just to get a steady paycheck. One student was no different, but he took his determination to the next level.

One bad thing after another

Have you ever had one of those days where it’s just one bad thing after another? You think your day can’t possibly get any worse and then it just does. It can be tough when that happens, and you can often feel as though all of your hard work is wasted. However, one student soon realized that the extra effort he put into his job would work out in the end.

Breaking down

Owning a car is an expensive business, and filling the tank with gas and making sure it’s safe to be on the road can often cost you thousands. Because of this, Walter Carr was overjoyed to hear that he had finally found a job and would be earning a solid wage to help him with his car and his college career. However, on the night before his first shift, Walter’s car broke down, and he had no idea what to do. His first job with Bellhops Removal Company was 20 miles away, and he couldn’t risk the prospect of losing a job he had waited so long for.

Making a decision

In the end, Walter had to make a decision. He would either have to lose his job or go the extra mile to save his job. He ultimately decided to save his job, and he set his alarm for midnight so that he could walk to work in the cold and the dark. In his eyes, it was worth it. As he was walking along the Alabama roadways, he was stopped by local police officers, who wanted to know why he was out walking so late. When he explained to them what he was doing, they were touched. They decided to take him for breakfast, and then take him to his workplace.

A little gift

However, that’s not all Walter got for proving he was a model employee. The people who had hired Bellhops Removal were amazed to see what Walter had done to get to work, so they decided to gift him one of their cars. It was not being used, and they knew Walter needed it more than them. The college student knew that he would have done it all over again if he had to, but the car was also a welcome surprise.

Although college can be hard, this college student discovered that hard work really does pay off. We should definitely learn from this story, as a little kindness really does go a long way.
