The Sam Ratulangi isn’t the first ship to wash up on the shore, and a real ghost ship was found on the coast of Japan in 2017. A wooden boat washed up on the beach and inside were eight skeletons. The boat had been drifting for a long time due to the state the bodies were in, but it isn’t the first time a ship has washed up on the shores of Japan.

The eight bodies were believed to belong to North Korean men, something which is reported to happen often.
