If it’s illegal

Illegal behavior does happen on occasion in college, and this is something you need to be aware of. There are a lot of things that people like to explore and experiment with when they are in college, and we’re not saying you shouldn’t do anything. However, you have to do as much as possible to avoid anything illegal. Not only could this see you booted off your course and expelled from college, but you might also run into trouble with the law as well.

When you’re not comfortable

There will be some times when you will have the chance to do things that are thrilling and exciting. In addition, there will also be times when you will be in a situation when you don’t feel comfortable with what is happening, and this is when you need to make sure you are responsible. If you have doubts and reservations about something, it is important to make sure you do as much as you can to say no, and stand your ground where possible.

When it jeopardises your degree

The important thing to remember is that you want to try to avoid doing anything that is going to directly or indirectly jeopardise your degree and your future. You need to ensure you are not doing anything that is going to be at odds with what your institution feels is acceptable. Keep in mind that you are here to learn and make a better future for yourself. Indeed, in some cases, you might even have paid a lot of money to attend college, and this is something to consider.

It’s dangerous

Danger is attractive to some of us. It is the thrill of doing something daring that appeals, but a degree of common sense is needed as well. If you feel like something is too dangerous or is going to put you (or others) in harm’s way, you need to back down and say no. Think about the situation and how dangerous it might be, and just say no!
There are a lot of occasions on which you will need to think about whether or not you are going to commit to something, or whether you’re going to say no. There are a lot of occasions in life where you will need to say no to things, and college is no different. Just because you are in college, it doesn’t mean you are obligated to agree to do every single thing, and you should keep this in mind.
