Fun things to do on the weekend other than partying

College is all about balance, right? You go to class, and you do your work, but then you also experience what college life is all about. You head to parties, you hang out with your housemates, and sometimes you ditch class because you’re feeling a bit worse for wear. However, there are some students who don’t like heading out to parties and nursing a sore head in the morning. If you’re one of those people, you don’t have to worry about staying in your dorm room for the whole weekend. There are so many things you can do at the weekend other than partying, and these are some of the best.

Go to a concert

If you love music, you’ll know that there is nothing better than live music. There’s something about hearing the raw sound of instruments and vocals that sends shivers up your spine, and you can guarantee that a local bar or club is going to be playing some live music over the weekend. Whether it’s an open mic night or a legitimate concert, you can unwind as you sing along to the music or dance the night away with the people you love more than anything else in the world.

Have a movie marathon

If you don’t fancy making your way out of your dorm because it’s too people-y out there, then you don’t have to! Nobody will judge you if you decide to stay in and have a weekend of self-care, and there’s no better way to do this than to have a movie marathon. Grab some popcorn, pop on a face mask, and put on your favorite movie series. Ours would always be Harry Potter because you just can’t beat a bit of Hogwarts magic…

Explore a new destination

Have you moved to a new city for college? If you have, there’s a high chance that you have only really explored your own campus. There is probably so much to see around your college, so why not give it a go? You could jump on a train or bus and see where it takes you, or you could just have a wander around the nearest park closest to you. Either way, exploring a new destination and seeing the sights is a fun way to spend your time – especially if you take someone else with you!

Have a board game tournament

Staying inside doesn’t have to be boring, especially when there are board games involved. If you’re looking for something fun to do at the weekend that doesn’t involve partying, then it might be time to gather all of your friends for a board game tournament. You could grab your Monopoly, your Twister, or even your Guess Who? out of the closet for this one, and you could also show your friends that you are the coolest board game player ever.

Check out a sporting event

A college wouldn’t be a college without a few sports teams thrown into the mix, so why not make use of the fact that your college could be putting on free events for you to shout and scream to? You can check out the football game, or you could just watch baseball practice. Either way, it gets you out of your dorm and mingling with the rest of your college. You never know, you might even be inspired to join the team!
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Well, look no further…
