Best college movies of all time

With so many movies centering around the high school experience, the whole ‘college’ era tends to get overlooked. Your teens can be some of the most confused and angst-filled times you go through, which is probably why movies like American Pie became so popular, due to their timeless comedic portrayal of growing up as a teen in America. So, what happens once you graduate high school and move on to go to college? Does it all get easier? Well, some movies have tackled the ‘college’ era with some uplifting, inspiring, utterly unforgettable and downright funny scenes. Here are some of the best college movies of all time.

Legally Blonde

This has got to be one of the best movies of all time, and it’s not just about Reese Witherspoon’s character ‘Elle Woods’ following her dreams. Well, Elle Woods is a sorority girl, filled with all the ‘girly’ stereotypes anyone could come up with. She’s a vivacious blonde who wants to study fashion merchandising and is happy in her relationship with her boyfriend, Warner. Elle believes he is going to propose to her, but instead he dumps her, leaving her broken-hearted as, according to him, she’s not ‘serious’ enough and doesn’t fit into his picture of success. She sets herself on a mission to prove to everyone that she is smart, and gets into Harvard Law. Eventually, she sets everyone straight, proving that looks and stereotypes mean nothing and anyone can do what they want. In the end, she realizes that Warner was no good for her and, instead, finds someone better suited to who she is, understanding her self-worth.

21 Jump Street

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill star in this crazy whirlwind of a comedy. These guys are cops going undercover to try and bust some college kids from doing and selling illicit items. They are much older than college age but adopt the previous mentality of what college was like when they were younger. They get a shock when they realize the world has changed since then, and Jonah Hill’s character is considered cooler than Channing Tatum’s, this drives a wedge between the two, but they eventually overcome it. They face some moral dilemmas, but this fun comedy drama does it in an entertaining way that people can relate to.

Every adult’s nightmare. The last thing you want is for a group of college students living next to you, with their loud, noisy parties and their lack of respect. Of course, not every college student is like that by any stretch of the imagination, but this is highlighting some of the wilder aspects of college life. It shows how these new parents deal with the problem next door, coming up with some crazy solutions to their problem from befriending them to calling the law. Eventually, things get sorted, but not before the sequel changes everything. It’s certainly a wild ride.
