Ron Cephas Jones had been in a variety of television series and films before landing his big, and heartbreaking, role on This Is Us. Shortly before, and a little bit after taking on the role of William, he appeared in the Netflix musical-drama series The Get Down, which follows the rise of disco and R&B in the South Bronx during the 1970s. Ron plays Winston Kipling, the eccentric owner of a local hair salon which he runs with his family.
