This isn’t the first time that California residents have negatively affected the environment. During the recent partial government shutdown, national park employees went on leave because they were not getting paid. Due to the shutdown, the nature reserves were left unprotected for anyone to go in and vandalize.
People took to Joshua Tree National Park and began cutting down the plants. Why? Because they could. These trees take about 300 years to grow and people just went around chopping them down. Yet another example of people desecrating nature for silly reasons.
