While we humans breathe oxygen, Martians apparently breathe carbon dioxide. Although carbon dioxide levels are constantly rising, the percentage in the atmosphere is still incredibly low. There’s certainly not enough here for a species to live off.

The Martians would have to come prepared with their own carbon dioxide tanks if they wanted to survive on our planet. Of course, they’re already well aware of this. After all, they stepped foot on the Earth many years ago.
