Gene Kennedy, who was Reynolds’ business partner and close friend, said the news of the actor’s passing “took us all by surprise.” Even though he was 30 years younger than Reynolds, Kennedy claims he had a hard time keeping up with him, because he was so active, and always working.

“We knew Burt was older,” he said, but nobody expected his passing because he was “so full of life and energy. I was in disbelief.”
