About a year prior to Mewnir’s writing of his Reddit post, the elderly man passed away.

He had struck up a new friendship with his neighbor when he was over the age of 80, which just goes to show that it’s never too late to create new loving friendships in your life. He was a widow, and he probably needed some more people to talk to. The fact that Mewnir was there for him at that time must have meant a lot to him.
