Although she had guest starred on several television shows and appeared in a number of commercials, The Love Boat was a turning point for Lauren Tewes. She gained recognition and started to make a lot of money. Unfortunately, however, after a few years on The Love Boat, she began to struggle with substance abuse and failed to show up to set several times. The production decided to replace her for the last two seasons of the show. She managed to overcome her addiction, and went on to culinary school, becoming a cheese specialist and a sous chef. She still acts, and had a recurring role on the series The Fugitive as a police detective.
