For her third album My December in 2007, Kelly took even more creative control, and became the co-writer and executive producer of the album. However, it caused a feud with RCA, who was less than pleased with their artist’s darker and less commercial-sounding rock album. Kelly struggled to maintain some sort of creative freedom with the label, but was left once again feeling unhappy. She recalled in an interview, “I did call my mom at some point, and I was just like, you know what, this is just not fun.”
