There are plenty of stories circulating about this bicycle; some people even say that it was left chained to a tree by a young boy who then went off to fight in WWI. However, Snopes dispels that rumor by explaining that the bike was actually left behind in the mid-1950s.
A local resident, Don Puz, simply abandoned his bicycle on Washington’s Vashon Island. It’s unsure whether the tree actually grew around and enveloped the bike or whether there was a bit of human intervention. Either way, it’s become an attraction!
