Pretty soon, however, word started getting around, and Helena started getting tattoo requests from people who most certainly weren’t friends of hers. She agreed, and only charged them the cost of materials and equipment.
She did those first tattoos at her house, where she had to “wrap the entire room in plastic.” After getting some advice from professional artists who loved her work, however, she opened her own studio – Malfeitona – and was able to “stop brigning strangers to my house,” as she so eloquently put it.
