The Ace award was created to be the top achievement you could receive in the Air Scouts. It only existed between 1942 to 1954, and the Air Scout Explorers program itself was ended in 1966. Two different designs existed over the course of those 12 years, but only a total of 723 Ace awards were given out. This makes the medals a particularly rare find amongst collectors. The first type is virtually impossible to track down, so most will try to seek out the second type featured here.
