Well, it turns out you don’t have to look very far to see where Rachael’s background in cooking comes from. Her own mother was actually the manager of a number of restaurants in the New York Capital District, so it’s obvious that Rachael probably hung around there a lot. One of the restaurants her mother managed was Howard Johnson, in the Lake George branch. It was an extremely busy restaurant, so Rachael could see how cooks operated under pressure.
