When CBS heard the news that one of their leading actors had been arrested, they were not happy. Major television networks do everything they can to comply with the law and create good role models for their viewers – so they had to really think about their best move. In the end, they decided that they just couldn’t take the risk with an actor like Gary, and decided not to renew his contract on the show. They eventually wrote the character of Warrick Brown out of the show altogether, and fans had to say goodbye.
