Although it seemed as though all was going well for Gary and his family, childhood trauma was just a short ride away. When Gary was just 6 years old, he received the life-changing news that his older brother had sadly passed away. At the time, his 21-year-old brother had been traveling around Haiti in an attempt to trace down his ancestors and create a family tree for his family back home. It’s believed that he fell from a balcony, but did not survive the impact. Gary was heartbroken.
