In 1987 a show began called Good Morning Miss Bliss, and Saved By the Bell was originally intended to be a spinoff of it. However, the show was quickly canceled after just 14 episodes, so the producers decided to change things around to make Saved By the Bell more popular. For example, the location changed from Indiana to California.

Mark Paul Gosselaar had also been in the show, so they later used the footage of Good Morning Miss Bliss to be flashbacks to Zack’s younger years in middle school.
