One of the most melodic and catchy pop songs of the 80s, Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” has a pretty cool story behind it as well. When he first started writing the song, he had been dating the 19-year-old Australian supermodel Elle MacPherson.

Soon after, he moved on to another well known supermodel, Christie Brinkley. It is said that the lyrics of “Uptown Girl” were inspired by both of them, which makes sense – they both do seem like the “uptown type.”
