This is one of those songs that no one forgets – the chorus is just too darn catchy. But the story behind it is pretty interesting as well. It all started when Doug Fieger first saw Sharona Alperin, who was 17 at the time.
He was eight years older than her, but they kept in touch and eventually dated for a total of four years. As for the song “My Sharona,” it took him a total of 15 minutes to write. Perhaps when you’re feeling it, it just flows out easily.
