It was believed for over 40 years that “Sweet Caroline” wasn’t a love song. People believed that Neil Diamond wrote it about young Caroline Kennedy, and they continued to believe that when he performed the song at her 50th birthday celebration in 2007.
But in 2014, Diamond shocked everyone when he revealed the truth. “Sweet Caroline” was indeed a love song, about his ex-wife Marcia. Apparently, he only chose the name Caroline because it had three syllables!
