Eloise hadn’t just had one calf – she’d had twins! This as an extremely rare occurrence as only 1 percent of elephant births result in multiples. Unfortunately, one of the claves usually passes away as the pair fight for food from their mother. Things weren’t looking good for Eloise or the twins.

The youngster must have been around three months old, yet they still seemed incredibly thin. Plus, Eloise was an older mother. This only added to the complications.
