Eloise’s feat is even more remarkable when we take into account that elephants have the longest gestation period out of all mammals. While human women get to lug around their baby bumps for nine months or so, lady elephants do so for almost two years!
Can you imagine? Eloise, at her age, had to carry not one but two little elephant calves for just shy of two years. Certainly puts the enormity of the occasion into perspective, doesn’t it?
