Today, the Great Sphinx of Giza blends well with the Egyptian desert thanks to its beige and tan coloring. Millenia of sandstorms have battered the structure, and the creature is now one color all over its head and body.

Yet, it’s believed that the Sphinx may have been much more colorful in the past. Those who have had the pleasure of seeing the Sphinx up close have noted that there are small remnants of blue and yellow paint on the body of the creature, and red paint on the human face.
