Many people believe that the Sphinx only includes the structure of the creature, but that’s just not the case. Located between its paws is actually a small temple that is usually off-limits to the public, because of its vulnerable structure and the contents that lie inside.

It’s believed that the inside of this temple is filled with countless stelae – or inscribed slabs of stone or wood – that have been placed there over the years by the Pharaohs of Egypt. It’s noted that these stelae are gifts to the sun god.
