Looking back on 25 years with the movie, it’s hard to imagine it being called anything but The Sandlot. But once upon a time, when the movie was in its early stages of production, it was titled, The Boys of Summer. David Mickey Evans had to change the name after he was threatened with a lawsuit by author Roger Khan, who had published a book with the same title. Ironically, Khan’s book was also about baseball, which would have made it even worse had they shared the same name. Thankfully, The Sandlot suits the film perfectly.
