When the directors first set out to cast the movie, they had originally intended to make it with actors who were only nine or ten years old. Once they began the auditioning process, they quickly realized they needed to change it to be with older kids instead. The part they had the hardest time casting was for Ham, as they felt like they couldn’t find the right guy.
