In a rage, Velez reportedly attempted to shoot Cooper when he tried to board a train to Chicago. Thankfully, she missed, and both Cooper and Velez moved on with their lives. Unfortunately, it seemed like Cooper still hadn’t learned his lesson about the downfalls of dating a co-star, and began a steamy affair with Carole Lombard while filming the 1931 movie I Take This Woman.
The actor left such an impression on the blonde movie star, that she later told her husband Clark Gable that she had much better intimate experiences with Cooper than she did with him.
