While Cooper was at college, he needed to find some extra money during the summers. Thanks to his outdoor experience growing up, Cooper was the ideal candidate to give people guided tours around Yellowstone National Park.
The college student drove those yellow open-top buses to show off the amazing landscape of Yellowstone. If he wanted, he probably could have done the whole tour on horseback, but the open-top bus was sufficient enough. Cooper worked at Yellowstone for two summers, in 1922 and 1923.
