Shortly after signing a new five-year contract with Paramount Pictures, the up-and-coming actor crossed paths with silent film legend, Clara Bow. When the actress spotted Cooper on the studio’s lot, she insisted that he be cast in her upcoming film, It – which went on to make Bow a star and the two into somewhat of a couple.
In the midst of their brief but intense fling, Bow landed her secret boyfriend his first leading roles, in the movies Children of Divorce and Wings – the latter of which garnered Cooper heartthrob status and enormous amounts of fan mail.
