Dan is hardly the only one to have had to deal with the possibility of losing their dog because of a law that discriminates against certain breeds. Not everyone can succeed in getting their dogs back, which is one of the reasons it was so exciting for him to be successful in winning his case. But some people have questioned if such a win would have been possible without Dan’s huge popularity, and Diggy’s viral selfie. After all, not many people have that kind of level of support.

Dan Tillery is a musician as well as a dog lover, and his various social media accounts boast some pretty big numbers. He has around 1,000 Twitter followers, over 10,000 likes on his Facebook page, and close to 14,000 followers on Instagram. Between his huge social media following, and the thousands of shares that Diggy’s post on the shelter’s page got, they were able to spread the word far and wide about Diggy’s situation. And it certainly made a big difference.

Because Diggy’s case went viral, he has become just as internet famous as his owner. After Diggy was allowed to stay at home, Dan didn’t stop including his dog in his pictures. He continues to post updates about Diggy, including this cute one from October, 2017 of Diggy having some fun on his workout equipment. Diggy seems to be loving his celebrity status, and is always happy to smile for the camera. Or maybe he’s just happy to be home.
