One man's selfie with his dog leads to the police knocking on his door

It turns out, Diggy wasn’t even a pit bull. In fact, he was an American bulldog, and Dan had the papers to prove it. When Dan adopted Diggy he was given all sorts of paperwork on him, and that included a form from the vet that listed his breed. Dan quickly went to retrieve the paperwork that he was sure would exonerate Diggy, but the police remained unconvinced. Diggy might be in some serious trouble.

Dan hoped that maybe if the officers met Diggy they would change their minds, so he brought them around back, hoping Diggy’s sweet and playful nature would bring them around. Diggy was his usual kind self, and immediately began licking the officers’ faces and was happy to make new friends. The police officers were dog lovers themselves and said he seemed like a great dog, but unfortunately that may not be enough.
Despite showing the police Diggy’s adoption papers stating his breed, and demonstrating how non-dangerous he was, the officers insisted that Diggy could not stay. They said that Diggy looked so much like a pit bull that if they saw him they would probably write a ticket, no matter what the paperwork said, or take even more serious action. The law was the law, and that was that as far as they were concerned. They informed Dan that he would either have to get rid of Diggy, or face some serious legal consequences.
