One man's selfie with his dog leads to the police knocking on his door

The selfie that Dan sent to the shelter didn’t seem like something that would scream criminal activity. It showed Dan and Diggy chillin on their backs, with big goofy grins on both their faces. The shelter shared it with the caption, “We know this photo is going to break the internet and we apologize, but we had to share.” They went on to explain how their dog, formerly known as Sir Wiggleton, had just been adopted after nearly 100 days in the shelter, and they were clearly celebrating with some terrific smiles.

So, the question was, what did the police see in the picture that alerted them? Calling the police is usually serious business. It would be understandable if perhaps the photo revealed signs of abuse or neglect, but as you can see, Diggy certainly seems to be well cared for in the picture. It turns out that there was a law Dan knew nothing about, and it was a law that was about to greatly affect him.

Dan was receiving messages of support and love from people all across America, so imagine his surprise when one day the police just showed up at his door. Dan was baffled and concerned, and he couldn’t understand why they would be there. But it turns out that the township they lived in had a rule against pit bulls and pit bull mixes, which stated they were not allowed to live there. Since Diggy looked like a pit bull, the police informed Dan his dog would have to go.
