Any Dutch person can sign up to defend their country when they are just 17 years old. The Netherlands have no compulsory military conscription. However, Aruba and Curacao both have conscriptions. As they both branch off from the Royal Netherlands Navy and Marines, things can get a tad confusing. Although there are an estimated 6.3 million people that are fit to serve in the military, the Netherlands currently have less than 60,000 personnel.
