The Air Force, Navy, and Army all work together to make up the Malaysian Armed Forces. Altogether the branches have around 110,000 personnel, but they also have over 300,000 people waiting in the wings in case the military ever needs them. In 2004 the laws changed to state that a random selection of 18 year olds would be selected to perform National Service. However, the government is under talks of making it compulsory to all 18 year olds instead.
