This is something that we never really stop to think about, but apparently people who aren’t from America think it’s hilarious that we don’t. When we say we’re going to fill our car up with gas, the substance that we’re actually putting in our car isn’t an actual gas – rather a liquid.
British people, who say that they fill their cars up with petrol, can’t wrap their heads around why we say this, when we all know full well that “gas” is not a substance that we put in our car.
