Americans are nice people, but there non-Americans who feel that this is to a fault. In other words, they believe Americans avoid harsh criticism, and refrain from giving it to others.
In the workplace, instead of saying “no” to an idea, they will say, “I wonder if this is the best solution.” There is merit to this type of approach, but outsiders believe that being more direct is the correct way to go, even if it’s a little bit meaner in the process.
