Dutch multimedia artist Lotte Geeven has been fascinated with getting to the bottom of the planet ever since she was a child. After hearing that the Kola Superdeep Borehole closed down, however, she set her sights on a hole in Germany, which stretches 30,000 feet below the ground.

Her mission was simple – get some audio devices down there capable of recording what the bowels of the Earth sounded like. She soon learned that finding that out wouldn’t be quite as simple as she had hoped, though.
